The
Living Adventure, Part I |

A
Living Testimony of my Personal Journey into the
Christian Adventure |

"You are
the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be
hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it
under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it
gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way,
let your light shine before men, that they may see
your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven..."

Prelude |
|
“This is the disciple who is bearing witness
to these things, and who has written these
things; and we know that his testimony is true.
But there are also many other things which Jesus
did: were every one of them to be written, I
suppose that the world itself could not contain
the books that would be written.” |

-John 21:24-25 |

Don’t just write down the pleasant things. As
David did, record your doubts, fears, and
struggles with God. Our greatest lessons come
out of pain, and the Bible says God keeps a
record of our tears. Whenever problems occur,
remember that God uses them to fulfill all five
purposes in your life: problems force you to
focus on God, draw you closer to others in
fellowship, build Christ like character, provide
you with a ministry, and give you a testimony.
Every problem is purpose driven. |

The Purpose Driven Life |
This is a story about my personal journey of coming to
know Christ as my Lord and Savior. My testimony to the
living God who desires us all to have a deep and
personal relationship with him. How he has revealed
his very realness and warmth, within my heart, through
very real experience by his very Grace and Mercy. The
important emphasis God has placed on the importance of
repentance and the healing powers of his forgiveness.
There is so much I have stored up and much I don’t
know how to explain. But I think it is supposed to
begin with what led up to my salvation and the journey
thereafter. I will try to tell you memories that I see
as spiritually significant and related to my
testimony. I will rely on scripture and prayer to
serve as my only advisor in this journal of my life.
So here it is. My first attempt to sit down and type
out my personal journal. I shall take a moment to pray
on this and you may want to take a moment to pray for
discernment, asking his Grace for approval and
understanding...

Dear
Father God,
I lift
you up in the highest. I praise you for your
mercy, love and grace. I am forever your servant
and I thank you for my very salvation. I am
forever in gratitude for what your son Jesus
Christ has done for us, because of which I get
to pray. Thank you Lord for your merciful hand
and promise of eternal love through faith of
which I truly have in you. I pray that you look
over my hand and guide my finger as I look back
in time to reflect upon the journey you have
bestowed in front of me. For this I am grateful
and I thank you for all eternity. Bless the very
thoughts and timelines with the bestowed grace
of your very own hand and desire. Lord, bestow
upon this memoir the blessing of wisdom &
knowledge accompanied only with grace and love
as you deemeth appropriate. Strike from my
thoughts and hands, the unworthy essence of
impurity or immorality. I praise you forever and
ever. I pray this in Jesus’ name.
Amen

The
story of a very real person and his desire to have a
meaning for life and a purpose for being here on
earth. A journey that’s filled with adventure and
excitement. A tale that has romance and heroism, light
and dark, good verses evil. It is the story of how one
sad, lonely, depressed, suicidal, self-destructive,
drug-addicted, alcoholic; came to see the light of
redemption and salvation, and most of all, the only
cure to breaking the chain to these addictions and
receiving hope into your life.

"There is no
photograph or picture in this world more
powerful than a well written description
or verse. Art is developed from within and
exposed through the lens of the artist, is
a snapshot of the very nature of man in
the purest form. A story is simply a
Captured Moment in Time" -E. J. Quiroz (7/19/03)

"The
writings have become to me a refuge and a
plague. A paradox created by the intensity
of life. The constant thirst for peace of
mind and contemplative reassurance for a
life described; 'A Life Worth Living'".
-Matt Williams (Journal 02)

"The secret
of it all is to write in the gush, the
throb, the flood of the moment - to put
things down without deliberation. Without
worrying about their style, without
waiting for a fit time or place. By
writing at the instant, the very heartbeat
of life is caught." -Ibid (7/22/1888)

"Write down
your progress in a journal. The best way
to reinforce your progress in fulfilling
God's purposes for your life is to keep a
spiritual journal. This is not a diary of
events, but a record of the life lessons
you don't want to forget. The Bible says,
'Its crucial that we keep a firm grip on
what we've heard so that we don't drift
off.' We remember what we record." -Rick
Warren (The Purpose Driven Life)

"In
all our hearts lies a longing for a Sacred
Romance. It will not go away in spite of
our efforts to anesthetize or ignore its
song, or attach it to a single person or
endeavor. It is a romance couched in
mystery and set deeply within us. It
cannot be categories into propositional
truths or fully known any more than
studying the anatomy of a corpse would
help us know the person who once inhabited
it...
"The Sacred Romance calls
to us every moment of our lives. It
whispers to us on the wind, invites us
through the laughter of good friends,
reaches out to us through the touch of
someone we love. We’ve heard it in our
favorite music, sensed it at birth of our
first child, been drawn to it while
watching the shimmer of a sunset on the
ocean. It is even present in times of
great personal suffering - the illness of
a child, the loss of a marriage, the death
of a friend. Something calls to us through
experiences like these and rouses an
inconsolable longing deep within our
heart, wakening in us a yearning for
intimacy, beauty, and adventure. This
longing is the most powerful part of human
personality. It fuels our search for
meaning, for wholeness, for a sense of
being truly alive. However we may describe
this deep desire, it is the most important
thing about us, our heart of hearts, the
passion of our life. And the voice that
calls to us in this place is none other
than the voice of God" . - Curtis and
Eldredge (The Sacred Romance) |
