4. Self Control |
|
|
|
|
|
4a. What is
self-control? |
|
Just like an athlete, the
Christian must exercise self-control in order to win the
imperishable crown of life he or she strives for. Self control
is moderation in all your actions. You can now display
self-control because Christ lives in you. The world is looking
at you. Family and friends may alre4ady misunderstand what God
is doing in your life. Your growth in self-control will show
them God is working in you |
|
Romans 12:1-2 |
1Therefore, I
urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your
bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is
your spiritual act of worship. 2Do not conform any
longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the
renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and
approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect
will.

1 Corinthians 6:18-20 |
18Flee from
sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside
his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.
19Do you not know that your body is a temple of the
Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?
You are not your own; 20you were bought at a price.
Therefore honor God with your body.

2 Timothy 2:22 |
22Flee the
evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love
and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure
heart.

Proverbs 16:32 |
32 Better a patient
man than a warrior,
a man who controls his temper than one who takes a city. |
